Detect Everyday BT and Wi-Fi Devices

MeerSAR scans for Bluetooth and Wi-Fi signals emitted by phones, Airtags, wearables and other connected devices, helping teams identify potential leads even when visibility is limited.

Quickly Geolocate Devices of  Interest

Once devices are detected the user flies a search pattern in the area to get an accurate geolocation - normally to within 10s of metres of the device.

Designed for the UAVs You Use

MeerSAR is designed as a flexible, lightweight payload for integration across a wide range of UAV platforms. At approximately 500 grams, it helps organisations add airborne Bluetooth and Wi-Fi signal detection capability without committing to a dedicated aircraft or cumbersome ground-based equipment.

More Capability When Conditions Are Against You

In mountains, bushland, flood zones, remote coastlines and other demanding response environments, every minute and every search resource counts. MeerSAR extends situational awareness above difficult terrain, helping teams identify and refine areas of interest before deploying personnel into high-effort or high-risk locations. The result is a faster, more informed response that supports rescue teams when conventional search methods are under pressure.

Easy to use

MeerSAR has been designed by users for users with a very intuitive browser-based user interface. Users do not need to come from an RF background to understand how to use MeerSAR to find people faster. Stratelo provides onsite and online training plus help desk support for MeerSAR customers.

In certain circumstances MeerSAR is able to detect and geolocate mobile phones that have been switched off or the battery is flat.

MeerSAR and ARTEMIS

By combining Smith Myers ARTEMIS cellular detection and geolocation solution with MeerSAR, search and rescue organisations have a multiple technology solution to better assist them in finding people in distress via their personal and home devices.

The addition of MeerSAR's passive Wi-Fi capability enables ARTEMIS to identify and geolocate devices associated with, or searching for, Wi-Fi networks. This capability supports faster decision-making and improves responder safety in time-critical scenarios, particularly in aerial firefighting and disaster response situations. Passive Bluetooth detection further extends operational reach, even enabling ARTEMIS in certain circumstances to detect and geolocate devices even after a mobile phones main battery has been depleted or the device turrned off.

“By combining cellular, AIS, COSPAS-SARSAT, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth detection and CoT integration in a single system, ARTEMIS delivers multi-layered device awareness and seamless sensor integration across complex operational environments,”

FAQs

What is MeerSAR?

MeerSAR is a lightweight Bluetooth and Wi-Fi geolocation payload designed for UAV based search and rescue operations. It helps search teams identify signals from compatible devices and use that intelligence to improve situational awareness and areas of interest during a search.

Which UAVs are compatible with MeerSAR?

MeerSAR is designed to attach to a wide range of UAV platforms. Compatibility depends on the aircraft’s payload capacity, mounting options, power arrangement, and operational configuration. MeerSAR uses its own ground to air communications links and only derives power from the UAV. Stratelo can help assess suitability for your fleet.

How much does the MeerSAR payload weigh?

MeerSAR weighs approximately 500 grams, making it suitable for many commercial and professional UAV platforms while preserving the flexibility needed for operational search missions.

Where can MeerSAR be deployed?

MeerSAR can support searches in rural, bushland , coastal, mountainous, urban, and other difficult-to-access environments. MeerSar is a passive solution and it is intended to complement established search procedures by providing airborne signal intelligence.

What types of signals can MeerSAR detect?

MeerSAR is built to passively detect Bluetooth and Wi-Fi signals emitted by compatible devices. Detection  and geolocation results help teams focus search efforts.

What is required to operate MeerSAR?

Operations require a suitable UAV, trained personnel, and compliance with any local aviation, privacy, and emergency-service procedures. Note that MeerSAR is a passive solution (it does not transmit or disrupt W-Fi or Bluetooth communications). A demonstration can help determine the best setup for your operational requirements.

How much does MeerSAR cost?

MeerSAR offers flexible annual software subscriptions or a perpetual software licence, helping organisations choose an approach that suits their procurement and operational needs. MeerSAR hardware uses commercially available components to support cost efficient deployment and practical long-term maintenance. Final pricing depends on the selected UAV, including payload mounting, power and communications requirements, so contact Stratelo to discuss your platform and receive a tailored quotation.
